Beth Hart, a Los Angeles native who is a blues-styled vocalist and former street performer. In 1995 she made her debut in the music industry with Immortal. Her outspoken style and her innate musicianship attracted the attention of many and admiration, along with her emotional live performances and voice that was compared to Janis Joplin. Chuck Taylor wrote that Hart was "the ideal model for natural females" in the October 2, 1999 issue of Billboard magazine. She is "bawdy, charming, jovial and wild in her preference for a smoky languages. That's not her real talent. She's an elegant, tall singer/songwriter who performs her songs with the vim and energy like Mick Jagger . Other times she's seated on the piano or the center stage without any pretense. Her legs are crossed on the side of a chair and she talks in a delicate, pained voice. Hart had similar reactions to the moment she took to the stage at amateur competitions when she was a teen. However, Hart had doubts about the music business as it became successful. Hart dropped her band after travelling around the world proved to be damaging. Hart was forced to be away from the limelight for nearly four years. Hart spent this time searching for answers, writing music and dealing with personal issues. In 1999, Hart came back to her professional life with the critically highly acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper. This album witnessed Hart's songwriting capabilities grow with vulnerable and honest songs about coping with life's difficulties.
